Recent finds of bayldonite at Penberthy Croft surpass any previously known in Europe.
The Van Mine was the largest lead producer in Mid-Wales and for many years the most productive and valuable lead mine in Britain. Although generally mines in Mid-Wales have been well documented the Van mine has not received the attention of mines historians commensurate with its importance and although this article is not intended as a definitive review it will introduce theis interesting site to the reader.
Silver, azurite, pyromorphite and eleven other species have been identified in baryte veins in the Mannoch Hill district of central Scotland.
